About BuildaTea
A good blend should be able to travel.
A friend who gave more than forty years to this trade used to say: climb the ladder. From up there you can see how every part connects, and where the lines need redrawing.
From the ladder, the tea trade is a long chain of people. A grower who knows which slope gives the brightest leaf. A blender who can taste the difference between two lots. A packaging maker who will spend a week on a single seal. A founder with a recipe in a notebook. Most of them never meet, and good ideas stall somewhere between a formula and a factory.
BuildaTea exists to close that gap.
Why it exists
The U.S. tea industry runs on “contact us for a quote.” You send an email, you wait, and the first real answer often comes back with a minimum you were never going to meet. You shouldn't have to commit 20,000 lbs to find out whether a blend works.
So we built the alternative. You choose a finished format, build your blend, and see a real price, with import duties and tariffs shown in the breakdown, before you have spoken to anyone. If you want to taste it first, you can order your blend as a sample.
Who is behind it
BuildaTea is built and operated by Futurewrks LLC, a U.S. company based in Clearwater Beach, Florida. Futurewrks is the seller of record on every BuildaTea order.
Futurewrks was founded by David Enser, who has spent his career in tea and cold beverage: sixteen years at Revolution Tea, ten of them as CEO and President, building tea programs for foodservice chains and the suppliers behind them.
Futurewrks works on one idea: access doesn't create revenue; execution does. Getting a blend listed, or getting a factory to say yes, is not the hard part. Making it reliably, at the right cost, again and again, is. BuildaTea puts that discipline at the front of the process, where it costs the least.
How it works
We start with the finished product. You choose the format your customer will hold, from a pyramid tea bag to a fraction pack for a 3-gallon brewer to bulk matcha by weight. Then you set the fill, the wrap, the counts and the blend.
The rules are built in. The configurator only offers combinations that can actually be made, so the specification you finish with is one a plant can run.
The price is real. It is calculated on our server from the configuration you chose. Import duties and tariffs are shown in the breakdown, and freight is quoted at fulfilment.
We make it with production partners. Your blend is made by established tea blending and packing plants in North America and at origin, including Sri Lanka and India. The making site stays confidential until it is named to you for your order.
Orders are straightforward. An approved commercial account, whole-pallet runs, a 50% deposit with the balance before shipment, and ship-to addresses in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
What we will do
- Show you a price before we ask for anything.
- Put the rules in writing: pallets, deposit, packaging, duties.
- Include standard packaging in the price, and credit you for it if you bring your own design.
- Show caffeine, allergen notes and organic share for every ingredient.
- Pay the partners who bring us clients on every order, built into the one price the client sees.
What we won't do
- Ask you to commit to a container to find out whether a blend works.
- Hide the price behind a sales call.
- Describe a finished blend as organic. We show the organic share of the blend by weight instead.
- Treat a grade of matcha as lesser. Ceremonial is for drinking straight, culinary is for blending, and grade follows purpose.
- Share your formula with anyone outside the production of your order.
